History:

Coca-Cola Light, also known as Diet Coke, was launched in 1982 by The Coca-Cola Company as its first sugar-free cola. It was created to meet the growing demand for low-calorie and sugar-free beverages, particularly among health-conscious consumers. Unlike Coca-Cola Zero, which was designed to mimic the taste of classic Coca-Cola, Diet Coke has its own unique flavor and formula.

The drink became an instant success, particularly in the U.S. and Europe, and quickly expanded globally. Coca-Cola Light uses a different base flavor system than regular Coke, which is why its taste differs even though it shares the same branding family. Over the years, the brand has introduced various flavors, such as Diet Coke with Lime, Cherry, and Vanilla.

In most parts of the world, the name “Coca-Cola Light” is used (especially in Europe and Latin America), while in the U.S., it’s sold as “Diet Coke.” Despite different names, the formulation is generally the same, though sweeteners can vary slightly by country depending on regulations.

Today, Coca-Cola Light remains one of the world’s most popular low-calorie soft drinks and is known for its distinctive silver label and crisp, lighter taste compared to classic Coca-Cola.
