History:

Fanta Orange is one of the oldest and most iconic soft drinks in the world, originally created in 1940 in Nazi Germany due to a trade embargo that prevented Coca-Cola’s German bottling plant from accessing Coca-Cola syrup ingredients from the U.S. To keep production going, the team developed a new soda using locally available ingredients like whey and apple fiber, calling it "Fanta" — short for "Fantasie" (German for imagination). After World War II, Coca-Cola regained control and rebranded Fanta into a fruit-flavored soft drink. Fanta Orange, introduced widely in the post-war era, became the flagship flavor.

The drink gained international popularity in the 1950s and 60s, particularly in Europe and Latin America, and was marketed as a fun, fruity, youth-oriented beverage. Over time, the formula was adjusted to use orange juice or orange flavoring instead of the original ingredients, and sugar content was standardized. Today, Fanta Orange is one of the most consumed orange-flavored sodas globally and is part of The Coca-Cola Company's extensive beverage portfolio. It is known for its vibrant orange color, sweet citrus flavor, and strong association with summer, fun, and youth culture.
