History:
Gatorade entered Europe in the early 2000s, initially targeting professional and amateur endurance athletes. Lemon-Lime was selected as the lead flavour due to its neutral taste and association with hydration rather than sweetness. EU formulations were adjusted to comply with European food additive and colouring regulations, resulting in lower sugar content and different colourants compared to the U.S.
